This movie is a classic and would be enjoyed by many others. Hellboy has great comedy and action, which is a great combination. I can't wait for Part 3 to come out cause I know it is going to be great. My favorite scene was when Hellboy gets drunk with Abe and starts singing the song by Barry Manilow "I Can't Smile Without You", which was frickin hilarious. So if your looking for a good laugh and good action buy this movie.

The movie is fantastic, as is the video and sound on this Blu-ray. Unfortunately, even though this isn't sitting on a shelf in a physical store trying to get your attention, Amazon.com ships this disc with a huge sticker on the front that screams "Digital Copy Included."
Normally that wouldn't be a problem, but this sticker is virtually IMPOSSIBLE to remove without damaging either the special hologram on the cover or the slip cover it sits on. This isn't one of your peel-with-ease stickers that comes right off. No, it's FULLY GLUED ON, and if this package ever encountered any high temperatures when shipping, it's stuck there for good.
You will have residual glue sticking to the hologram, you'll rip off some of the black glossy covering on the slip case, some of the sticker will remain behind without any way to remove it, or your have to dig in your fingernail so deep that you'll leave a permanent dent on the cover.
If you're not concerned about stickers on your slip cases, then you might be annoyed at the shoplifting-proof packaging that increases the chances you're going to ruin your case. Why Amazon, with all its purchasing power, doesn't require manufacturers to send these Internet-only blu-rays without all the shoplifting packaging is beyond me.
Write to Amazon.com and complain about the packaging, the stickers, and the amount of hassle and garbage generated by it!
Or, if you don't care about the case and only care that the blu-ray looks good and plays well, then you should be happy with this movie.

If you like the sort of tongue in cheek style these are fun. Nothing taken seriously, and is more entertaining for that.

This review is not about the film, which i greatly enjoyed, nor of the Blu-ray (excellent HD) but rather a notice about the Blu-ray packaging of the bonus disc, which in my copy at least, is a DVD. I do not know if all the Blu-ray editions of this film are like this, but it was a major disappointment. I like watching bonus features and now that Blu-ray is here and other films have their bonus footage in HD, that is what I expected here. Perhaps it was due to the digital copy of Hellboy II included on the bonus disc, rather than it being on a disc all its own (as in the case of "The Dark Knight" Blu-ray). Just be informed if you're considering buying the present Blu-ray.

Lemme just start off by saying that I really did enjoy the first Hellboy though, for me, it never really worked as well as I'd hoped. It was beautiful to look at, the characters were startlingly accurate and the storyline & dialogue were on point but I just wasn't feeling it, if you know what I mean? It's hard to explain but the entire thing felt a bit soulless to me, as crazy as that sounds. Del Toro is a visionary, Mignola's comic book concept is unparalleled and Perlman's performance as the titular character was inspired but none of it seemed to gel in the right way.
Hellboy II: The Golden Army brings all the stunning visuals, award-winning FX & CG and phenomenal acting presented in the first film and runs wild with them in a free-for-all of imaginative monster mayhem! The sequel has more excitement, more emotion and the characters have certainly taken on a life of their own! If you enjoyed the first, you're going to love the follow-up, if you weren't able to get into the first; you're going to find this to be everything the first wasn't.
I seriously enjoyed Hellboy II: The Golden Army, it was overflowing with action, adventure and some of the coolest creature designs I've seen since Nightbreed! As if a freakin' cool movie wasn't enough, Universal gives us this huge 3-Disc DVD release that was packed with more special features than I knew what to do with! I still haven't gotten through all of them! This is a party movie, a buddy film and a family flick all rolled up into one. Highly recommended.
